Good evening everyone, my name is Ylondra Marrero, CEO and Founder of JEM Fab Fashions, I’d like to welcome you all to the Grand Opening of a dream long-time coming called JEM Fab Fashions. I’d like to thank each and every one of you for believing in me and in my dream. By being here tonight you are showing me your love and support and that means more to me than words could ever express. Some of you know what the meaning of my dream is and some of you will hear it for the first time tonight. For years I have carried this dream within me and haven’t been able to openly share it but today is the day I embrace courage and release it to the world through you. And my wish is that you carry this dream with you and pass it on in your lives through your actions so that together we may impact the world in a positive way.

The significance of JEM Fab Fashions begins with the four angels God has blessed me with. The first one I lost when I was twelve years old and she was only two. My sister Kristal Marie Marrero left this world way too soon but she has never left my side. Through her, I have learned that just because someone leaves their physical form it doesn’t mean they leave us completely or that the love we have for each other ever ceases to exist. The butterfly in my JEM logo is a tribute and honor to her because after her passing and every day since that is how she continues to show me she is here, with me in spirit, guiding my journey and blessing my life.

The other three angels in my life are the meaning behind the JEM letters of my business name – The J is for my daughter Jazzmine, the E is for my daughter Elena and the M is for my daughter Mia. My daughters are my WHY in life. They are my rock and my strength, my reason for pushing harder and stronger even when life has felt like everything and everyone was stacked against me. They have been my motivation to grow as a woman, as a mother, and as an entrepreneur so that I could not only provide for them but show them that if we believe in ourselves and work hard enough anything is possible. Through them, my legacy lives on.

Being in the Fashion industry for many years and experiencing both the good and the bad within it has created in me the desire to start not only a clothesline but a powerful movement that is needed in the world now more than ever. The message that JEM Fab Fashions imparts is the celebration and inspiration of beauty in all women at any age, size, shape, or flavor. After having endured so much judgment and rejection for not being thin enough, tall enough, pretty enough, or good enough I decided that enough was enough and I could take small steps that could lead to big change one person at a time. My goal is to inspire and include all women and help them see and celebrate their own unique beauty. I want women to see that fashion is a tool that can be used to accentuate their curves and showcase their fabulousness but that true beauty is birthed from within and shines brightly when we allow ourselves to embrace our light and let it shine to the world without fear. I want all women to know they are enough, they deserve to look and feel beautiful just as they are right now. I want my dream to be spread far and wide so that all women embrace self-love, self-acceptance, self-confidence and learn to celebrate and ROCK their own beauty on a daily basis.

Before introducing you to these fabulous and amazing women who are the embodiment of the JEM Fab Fashions dream tonight I’d like to thank my parents Soreyda and Carlos Marrero for bringing me into this world, without them I wouldn’t be here and my dream would not exist. I’d also like to thank my sponsors for their generous support in making this night possible. Many thanks to Dargel Esposito from TODOS Magazine, who couldn’t be here tonight.
